Introduction

This is the question that most of us didn’t know the answer to. Which should you pursue to have a better life? Money or Passion?

In this article, we will share some of what we learned about pursuing Money or Passion based on our experiences. Why is it relevant for you? Because after I was diagnosed with Anxiety and Depression last year, it hit me to the rock bottom of my life. However, as I was able to overcome it, I learned some significant thoughts about which of the two we should pursue to have a better and happy life.

We will also try to weigh things out to help us figure out which of the two we should pursue to have a better life when it comes to fulfillment, Well-being, mental health, and more.

To have a better understanding let us explain money and passion first and their Pros and Cons then we listed 10 wise pieces of advice to help us make a decision. With that being said, let’s get right on to it.

Money

According to Webster Dictionary, one of the definitions of money is…

“A persons or interests possessing or controlling great wealth.”

Simply it is a medium of exchange to buy goods or services, it is also a position of how wealthy a person or organization is.

However, is having ‘money’ enough to help us achieve true happiness? Does it contribute to help us have a better life when it comes to health and well-being?

Well, the answer is yes, definitely. Because, without money, you cannot afford to buy food, shelter, clothing, or even medical needs and supplies to keep your body healthy or even provide for your family.

But, how come that most people who even have an enormous amount of money weren’t able to achieve happiness? and some of them are getting sick, or some of them have more problems compared to those who have enough or less. 

Which doesn’t make sense right? Because they already have plenty of money to spend and help them when it comes to buying things and services that can make them happy or keep them healthy. But somehow it resulted differently.

I remember a song by of one the greatest rappers way back then named Christopher George Latore Wallace or also known as The Notorious B.I.G. The title is called “Mo Money Mo Problem” the line from the chorus goes…

“I don’t know what they want from me, It’s like the more money we come across the more problems we see.”

What comes to my mind that could be the reason why even that some people already possess huge amounts of money and they are not still happy. Let’s list down some of it.

Some probable reasons why people still unhappy even they possess huge amounts of money

1. Handling money takes a huge responsibility to avoid misuse. And most people are not well disciplined to handle money.
2. Their money is misused resulting in them losing more than what they have gained.
3. Losing or forgetting the main “purpose” why they worked hard to earn a lot of money.
4. Money became their life, nothing else matters.
5. Most of them didn’t invest in something that will make them happy or something that can make their life fulfilling.
6. They didn’t take breaks or enjoy some of the pieces of their money since they became slaves of money.
7. They didn’t consider sharing some of it with those who are in need.

Money is powerful we cannot deny that fact, as uncle ben of peter parker once said that…

“With great power comes with great responsibility.”

Therefore, you can consider that…

“Having so much money comes with so much responsibility.”

Passion

So the “opposite” of money is Passion, which a lot of people have a perspective that “Passion will not bring food to your table“. Since you cannot buy anything using a passion.

However, we believe that passion can bring you wealth, though it’s not your priority. To further understand what passion is, according to webster’s dictionary passion means…

“a strong liking or desire for or devotion to some activity, object, or concept”

Those who are volunteers in Red Cross are the best example of people who are pursuing their passion.

Imagine that not getting monetary value and still risking their lives to save those people who are caught in the middle of a war or political struggles.

It just sad though, that volunteers are being kidnapped as hostages by rebels or terrorists. Despite their passion to help.

With that being said, let’s move to the list of the 10 Most Wise Advises To Help You choose which to pursue and why.

Conclusions

Now that we understand some bits of information about the difference between Money and Passion. We must keep in mind that regardless of either we choose Money or Passion, what matters the most are Happiness and Purpose. 

Because if we do not invest in things that will make us happy you will keep on feeling that something is missing in your life. And without knowing the main purpose of why we are doing things, we tend to lose track of what should be pursuing in the future.

Purpose and Happiness are the key ingredients together with Money or Passion or Both to have a better life

Finding Purpose and Happiness is never an easy task, that is why there are phrases such as “Pursuit of Happiness“ and “Find your purpose”. Because these are significant things that will bring a huge impact on our lives. Maybe you can buy pieces to make you happy but you cannot buy the entirety of it. Because purpose and happiness are much deeper than just money.

Even the greatest people in history emphasizes finding your purpose and always be happy. As Mark Twain said…

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” – Mark Twain

And Bill Sunday also said…

“More men fail through lack of purpose than lack of talent.” – Bill Sunday

On the other hand, the great Dalai Lama said when it comes to the secrets in achieving happiness…

“Happiness is not something ready-made, it comes from your actions.” – Dalai Lama

And according to Andy Rooney…

“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain but all the happiness and growth occurs when you’re climbing it.” – Andy Rooney.

As you can see from the wise words of these great men, it is clear that Happiness and Purpose are secret ingredients to have a better life together with either Money or Passion or Both. 

Contentment is your last piece of the puzzle

Another thing that we should consider is contentment, there is nothing wrong with desiring to have more of what you have right now. However, a lot of people are driven by greed because they are losing their purpose of why they desire to have more.

Some people desire to have more knowledge because they want to learn more to help and inspire others, Some desire to acquire more money to help and donate some of it to charities to feed those who are in need and less fortunate. These are purposes, purposes to help and inspire other people. 

But without these deeper meanings on why you desire to acquire more, you better rethink it because you might be driven by greed and just wanted to have power over other people which is never the best thing to do.

Always remember that for us to achieve a better life it was never just about money, it is the purpose and passion why you want to earn. Is it to help your family? or to save so that you can help other people?

Lastly, how will it contribute to help you achieve happiness, Always keep in mind that without applying the significant factors will always lead to failure and unfulfilling life, and no matter what we must keep on putting love into everything we do.
