Is it possible for you to buy on Amazon from the Philippines? Don’t worry! We will be using some images from Amazon.com to show you how to order, this is to educate my fellow Filipinos that we can buy on amazon even if we are located in Asia. We are here to teach you and explain some facts to help you shop online on Amazon.com even if you are in the Philippines. And they can deliver your order in less than a week (before the COVID situation).
What is Amazon.com?
Before you buy on Amazon, let’s discuss first who is Amazon.com? Amazon.com is the biggest online retail store which was founded in the USA in 1996, owned by a marketing genius named Jeff Bezos. Amazon started as an online store for Books which later expanded to sell millions of variety of goods.
Because of their success in online retailing, Amazon became a brand that established an excellent customer-centric service and outstanding quality of products that they sell online.
Amazon’s secret of their fast delivery
Now, Amazon expanded its service in other countries as well. However, you are wondering if they can deliver to the Philippines? And the answer is yes! they can deliver to our country. Let us show you how.
We tried searching online and we found out how Amazon can deliver the orders in less than a week even internationally. It’s because of Amazon’s Fulfillment Centers which are scattered all over the world.
Therefore, even if we are in Asia, the reason why they can commit to their fast delivery period because there is an Amazon Warehouse in Japan and China. Which both countries are a few hours flight from the Philippines.
I’ve watched a documentary by the BBC about Amazon and it was explained that the reason Amazon commits to fast delivery because every time we order that order is passed to a Fulfilment Center nearest to the location of the consumer so that when they pick the order it can be processed and delivered immediately. I remember this strategic method was taught to us by Professor Grace De Ocampo who is an Engineer. During the time I am still taking Bachelor’s Degree Major in Operations Management.
Anyways, this is an example of the strategy is called Transportation Model. It is a method to make efficient use of your resources to lower the cost of transporting one product to another location that is used in Production, Manufacturing, and most of all delivery.
It’s like instead of shipping it from the USA, your order will come from the Amazon Warehouse that is nearest to your location. Think of it like you will shop online from a fast-food chain and the order will be redirected to the nearest branch to your location.
How to buy on Amazon from the Philippines?
The First Step, before you can shop online you should “Sign up” first for free to make your Amazon Account.
The Second Step, “Set up your delivery address” make sure you input the accurate details of your address
The Third Step, “Find your desired product you want to buy”. Amazon made their page very easy to use and navigate, they will show you tabs of categories to help you shop around. You can use it or if you want to look for a specific product use “Search”.
Fourth Step, Place your order by clicking the “Buy now” tab.
Additional Info that you should know:
- Delivery & Arrival of your Order: Usually the delivery of Amazon takes only between 4-7 days. But due to the COVID spikes situation that occurred recently, it seems that is causing the delay. As proof that Amazon Delivery is faster than you imagined, Check out the YouTube video below:
- Shipping & Fee Details: This is important that you know about because Amazon only applies the standard delivery fee on every order. However, If your total order amount reaches $200 worth or more, there will be an additional Import Fee which is a requirement by the Philippine Customs.
If the Order is below $200 worth, No Import fees.
If the Order is $200 or more, an Additional Import Fee will be applied
Fifth Step, Choose your payment options. Amazon offers different payment methods such as Amazon Pay or Credit Card, etc. But most people use Credit Card as their payment option since it is less hassle for the buyer. Some preferred Amazon PayCode which they can pay through Western Union within 48hrs after placing your order, Luckily we have plenty of western union outlets here in the Philippines, Find your nearest Western Union now.

If you buy on Amazon, Is there an alternative way to ship your orders from Amazon?
If you want to buy on Amazon, Aside from the usual way of shipping your orders from Amazon, there is another way where you consolidate first all your orders in one place. And once you’ve decided to deliver your orders that is the time they will ship all your consolidated orders in just one shipping.
You can do this through ShippingCart. It is a Shipping service in the USA, which is part of the LBC company.
How does ShippingCart work for you? When ordering at Amazon you have an option to deliver your order to a different address. That is when ShippingCart comes in.
Because all you need to do is input the ShippingCart address as your delivery address. Then Amazon will deliver your order to that location, and you have 30 days to ship the items otherwise ShippingCart will return it to Amazon.
This is a good way if you plan to order multiple items so that you can ship your orders all in one shipping. This option is being used by some of the Filipinos in case if the store that they are buying at doesn’t ship directly to the Philippines. Though the delivery/shipping will take a longer period though.
However, luckily for you, if you buy on Amazon from the Philippines, Amazon ships and delivers directly to the Philippines. So consider this just an alternative shipping option.

Is it worth it to buy on Amazon instead of buying from other online Marketplace in the Philippines?
In our opinion, Yes! There is a big difference between buying from Amazon compared to other online Marketplace. It is truly worth it to buy from Amazon.
The first is Quality. Amazon offers Quality Products and they are very known because of that.
The second is Legitimate Resellers, There are many legitimate sellers in Amazon compared to other online marketplaces. I’ve ordered an HDMI cable using a different online marketplace.
And it took me 17 days waiting for my order to arrive, and here’s the kicker, the reseller canceled my order without any reason or whatsoever.
I didn’t take it negatively at first because I understand that the store is located in China. Maybe it is just a delay. But when they canceled my order without any notice or reason from them that pissed me off.
Imagine waiting for 17 days or more then suddenly your order is canceled without even receiving a notice from the online store. Mind you, the store has 4 stars plus ratings on that online platform but somehow their service is terrible.
Price comparison vs other online marketplaces
There is a huge difference compared to the other online marketplaces that are because Amazon’s items are made from the USA, meanwhile the other came from China.
And yes China products are much cheaper compared to the USA products, but in terms of quality, there is a big difference. Sometimes we need to consider that paying much rather than paying less is better when comes to terms of quality assurance. right?

Conclusions
As you can see, Lazada and Shopee prices are much cheaper than Amazon. However, is the quality of the products is greater than Amazon’s product?
As a consumer, we must consider factors like Quality, Customer Ratings, Delivery Period, Price, and Warranty Period. We can’t just focus on the prices of the items that we are about to buy. Because it clouded our logic to inspect other aspects that we should be looking at too as a consumer.
In an instance like the comparison of the prices displayed above. Most probably you will only consider the prices of Shopee and Lazada, Disregarding the fact that Amazon offers the Original Product supplied by an original seller Eterichor, Which is a manufacturing business that primarily focuses on making Light furniture products like lamps. Therefore, since this is their business’s forte their quality is excellent.
On another note, In the price comparison, you can also see that Amazon might be the longest delivery period. But there is a reason behind that, due to the COVID spikes that happened recently. International shipments are delayed.
However, Since they have Warehouses in China and Japan, Amazon can still commit to its fast delivery.
Final note, Filipinos should embrace the beauty of buying on Amazon even from the Philippines. Because they became the largest online retail store in the world due to their good reputation.
Hence, we shouldn’t be afraid to try and test their excellent service. Since Amazon helped a lot of people due to the products that they sell and the innovation that they do to improve to provide outstanding customer service which results in customer satisfaction.
